​In 1948 Claude Shannon coined a new word for the smallest possible unit of information stored in a 1 or a 0.  Defining binary digits, or bits, triggered an avalanche that continues to build. Bits are the oxygen of our digitally accelerating, tech-charged world, where small things don't just grow, they can take off fast.  Like a Bolter.  

Whether it is a horse sprinting, a swimmer blitzing, or a startup flying, a Bolter gets moving. In Australia, a Bolter is an outsider in a contest, the underdog taking on the big names. We love our Bolters.  In the early days, a Bolter was a convict who made a run for it, to take their chance in the great big unknown. 

And here's the thing.  When those Bolters broke out, they kept it quiet.  They knew to get as far out in front of any pursuers as possible, before there was any inkling that normal had just been disrupted.  Stealth, and strategic surprise, are not new.
